Goose Down or Duck Down and Feather?
Nothing feels as soft and luxurious as a down pillow. Down pillows are soft and light.
Goose down pillows are softer than duck down as the goose down clusters are larger and offer more loft. The larger goose down clusters are more resilient, durable and longer lasting. Goose down is of higher quality, more luxurious, insulating and more expensive than duck down.
Duck down also offers a soft welcoming pillow. Duck down gives similar levels of comfort and is more affordable due to it's widespread availability.
Down pillows can be very soft, the softness is determined by the design and fill weight of the pillow.
Feathers add structure and support to a pillow. Our Duck Down and Feather pillows with 50% duck down and 50% duck feather are extremely popular with side sleepers offering comfort with more support to those who need it.
Why are hotel pillows so comfortable?
Top quality Down and Feather is the basis of true comfortable pillows.
Many hotels like to use pillows with a core of feather, which is firmer, surrounded by down which is softer. These layers are known as chambers and can be referred to as a chamber pillow or a Down Surround Pillow. The ratio of feather and down encased in the chambers determines the comfort and support level. We offer our Down Surround Pillow in soft, medium or firm.
Luxury hotels generally use Goose Down pillows or Duck Down pillows just like ours.
When do I need to replace my pillow?
Generally you should replace your pillow every 1 - 2 years. Your pillow should always provide you with the proper amount of support to ensure your head, neck and spine are in alignment and you are comfortable.
Remember you can wash your down and feather pillow in the washing machine and tumble dry it too.
Using a pillow protector can help improve the lifespan of your pillow.
